Spring 2025 Programs

The Kamloops Music Collective is proud and excited to offer 8 different opportunities to be involved in music education this Spring Break! This includes our staple Set the Stage! Spring Break Performing Arts Camp and a new series of Music Exploration workshops. This will give more students than ever an opportunity to explore music and be with like minded peers during their Spring Break!

Set the Stage! Spring Break Performing Arts Camp- SOLD OUT

Dates: March 17th - 21st 2025

Prerequisite: In Grades 4 - 9, No experience necessary!

Time: 8:30am - 3:00pm daily

Location: St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (1136 6th Avenue)

Cost: â€‹â€‹

  • Early Bird Pricing (Dec. 15th - Jan. 15th): $325

  • Regular Pricing (After Jan. 15th): $375

Musical Theatre Production: Disney's Descendants: The Musical

About the Program: Imagine a day filled with musical theatre, set design, musical games and friends! At Set the Stage! we teach musical theatre fundamentals that help students shine on stage and in all aspects of their lives. This camp is perfect for kids in grades 4-9, beginners are welcome!

This Spring Break, enroll the kids in a Performing Arts Camp that is modeled after our popular summer program, the Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music! Kids who take part will get to explore many aspects of musical theatre and performance. Lunch and snacks will be provided for all students as well!

About the Show: Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney's Descendants: The Musical is a brand-new musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films!

Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost – home of the most infamous villains who ever lived – the teenaged children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil have never ventured off the island… until now. When the four troublemakers are sent to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, they have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?

FUNdamentals of Singing! 

Dates: Monday March 24th 2025

Prerequisite: In Grades K-3

Time: 9:00am - 11:30am

Location: SKSS Band Room (In the same parking lot as the Sagebrush Theatre)

Cost: â€‹â€‹$45

Instructor: Christleda Philip

** No Experience is Required for this Workshop**​

This engaging workshop introduces young children to the joy of singing through fun and interactive activities. Students will learn to match pitch, move to the beat, and develop their musical ear. They will explore simple canon songs, building a foundation for harmony while fostering confidence and musical creativity.

Set the Stage! Music Exploration Workshop: 
Introduction to Rock Band Instruments

Dates: Monday, March 24th 2025

Prerequisite: In Grades 7 - 12

Time: 12:00pm - 2:30pm

Location: SKSS Band Room (In the same parking lot as the Sagebrush Theatre)

Cost: â€‹â€‹$45

Instructor: Tina Hebner

** No prior experience is required but if you do have experience, you are more than welcome to still participate! The instructor does a great job of integrating experience levels!**​

Do you aspire to learn a rock band instrument? Electric guitar? drums? bass? or maybe even vocals? This workshop will introduce students to a variety of classic rock band instruments! Perfect for grades 7-12

Plastic Band

Dates: Tuesday, March 25th 2025

Prerequisite: In Grades 4-6

Time: 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Location: SKSS Band Room (In the same parking lot as the Sagebrush Theatre)

Instructor: Bailey Finley

** No instrument experience is required. If they already have started learning an instrument they are welcome to come try another!**​

Get your child excited about music with the Kamloops Music Collective's Plastic Instrument Band Workshop! Designed specifically for younger children, this program combines fun musical games and activities with hands-on experience playing specially crafted, kid-friendly band instruments. It’s a great way to spark enthusiasm and build confidence before joining a school band. Perfect for students in grade 4-6.

Set the Stage! Music Exploration Workshop: 
FUNdamentals of Choir

Dates: Wednesday, March 26th 2025

Prerequisite: In Grades 4-6

Time: 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Location: SKSS Band Room (In the same parking lot as the Sagebrush Theatre)

Cost: â€‹â€‹$75

Instructor: Christleda Philip

** No prior choir or vocal experience is required **​

In this dynamic full day workshop, students will develop their singing voices and learn the essentials of choral singing. They will explore vocal warm-ups, practice singing in two-part harmony, and discover how to blend their voices within a group. Through teamwork and musical expression, they will gain the skills to be confident and positive contributors to any choir they join.

Make Your Own Instruments!

Dates: Thursday, March 27th 2025

Prerequisite: In Grades K-3

Time: 9:00am - 11:30am

Location: SKSS Band Room (In the same parking lot as the Sagebrush Theatre)

Cost: â€‹â€‹$45

Instructor: Tina Hebner​

We love making music even when we don't have instruments present, and we think your young musician would love it too! In this program we will do activities and crafts that help us create instruments out of nothing, that they can decorate and enjoy far beyond the length of the workshop. Tina Hebner will lead the students through a journey of learning and expressing themselves through basic elements and by making music out of ordinary elements!

Campfire Songs

Dates: Thursday, March 27th 2025

Prerequisite: In Grades 4-6

Time: 12:00pm - 2:30pm

Location: SKSS Band Room (In the same parking lot as the Sagebrush Theatre)

Instructor: Tina Hebner​

**No experience is necessary but Ukulele or Guitar experience is welcome!**

Come learn some fun songs to sing around the campfire this spring! As a long time Ukulele and Guitar teacher, Tina is amazing at working with the level of each participant to find songs that will be fun and challenging for all involved. This is a fun workshop for anyone who is learning to play the Ukulele or Guitar and wants to find easy songs they can share with others and have everyone joining and singing along!

Switch Band

Dates: Friday, March 28th 2025

Prerequisite: In Grades 7 - 12

Time: 12:00pm - 2:30pm

Location: Valleyview Secondary School Band Room

Cost: â€‹â€‹$45

**Each participant must have at least one year of band experience!**

Are you ready to mix things up? Switch Band is your chance to try that instrument you’ve been eyeing from across the room (yes, even the tuba). Whether you’re a sax player dreaming of drumming or a clarinetist ready to unleash your inner trumpet hero, this is your time to shine—or squeak. No pressure, no judgment, just Friday afternoon fun and some beautiful chaos.
