Part of the 2018 JUNO @letshearitbc Experience Music Program

Kamloops Music Collective (KMC) in partnership with School District 73 is calling on aspiring young jazz musicians to participate in a fun-filled day of learning and performing with a talented pool of professional jazz musicians. Grades 8 to 12 students are invited to Jazz Jam – led by Anita Eccleston & Friends, including Kris Ruston, Richard Graham, and Alex Ward – on March 29 from 8:30AM – 3PM at the Kamloops United Church, 423 St. Paul St.

The workshop is being hosted thanks to a grant through the 2018 JUNO Awards Host Committee, in partnership with Creative BC and Music BC, part of $30,000 in funding for 33 @letshearitbc Experience Music Program events across BC. For young participants at the Jazz Jam in Kamloops, a day of learning and playing will end in a finale jazz concert from 5:30-7PM where participants will perform some of what they have learned.

Students must register for the event, which has a $20 fee and includes two evening performance tickets, along with pizza and drink provided by Dominos. Students may pick five songs from a list, shared below, and each student is asked to listen to their selected songs prior to attending the workshop as preparation for the days workshop. Sheet music will be provided once song assignments have been made based on their selections. Everyone is welcome to attend the concert and additional tickets will be sold for $10 at the door with proceeds going towards the KMC's Whole Note Program.
